Getting Recruitment Right

We know that success for a company depends on recruiting the right people.  And yet firms put insufficient science into recruitment and selection of their future staff.  Many managers believe that they, as untrained interviewers, can tell if someone will excel in a job in just three minutes of discussion.  This is a myth. Managers might be able to tell if they like the candidate. But it will take considerable time and testing to determine if the candidate is the right person to excel in the job.

Managers must remember that it’s a six-part process that starts with constructing the right job.  Recruitment after that continues focussing on how to attract and select the right person.  So how do managers go about that?
